Caracol has manufactured the first single-piece 3D printed sailing boat in the world, with recycled material from MyReplast. The boat as a symbol for restarting and exploration here also represents a renewal of manufacturing processes. A journey in the world of large-scale 3D printing, in the recycling of plastic and in circular economy. Caracol will use its proprietary robotic Additive Manufacturing system to produce the boat's hull.
Caracol's mission is to overcome limits to find more efficient, progressive, and sustainable manufacturing solutions. Additive Manufacturing traditionally requires printing on XY planes at 90°, so we decided to make our robotic systems print at an angle.
