At Via Confalonieri 21, Isola hosts a selection of experimental and inspiring artists and designers who present their work in this year’s edition of Rising Talents.
Curator Wisse Trooster selected 5 alumni from Design Academy Eindhoven, Amy Lewis, Brogen Berwick, Clémentine Buffa, Pepe Valenti, and Jiin Yoon, who are arriving in Milano to bring their unique methods of expression through the craft medium. Their explorations mix physical and digital materials, from data to metal, textures, and techniques. Once combined, the individual works challenge the boundaries of a collective exhibition design outside the walls of the white cube. Through tactile sculptures, metal furniture, and moving images, the emerging designers create a multi-layered space to build dialogue and challenge research methods through active materialization.
Sponsored by Saint Germain Real Estate, the designers have been given an old store that closed for over ten years and is “on sale.” With some remnants of what has been there before, it’s a canvas that the designers will transform into their exhibition space, where they take advantage of the opportunity to use the framework of the setting to experiment within the context of the Milan Design Week. The exhibition set-up is realized in collaboration with Fairf providing its bio-based paint.
