Isola Studio collaborates for the second time with Ithra to present "Behind the Curtains: Scenes of Craft", an immersive exhibition debuting at Tanween 2024: Fail Forward.
The seventh edition of the annual Creativity Conference organized by The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture - Ithra -will be held from October 31 to November 6, 2024, at Ithra in Saudi Arabia (Dhahran).
With Isola’s creative direction, "Behind the Curtains: Scenes of Craft" will offer visitors an opportunity to discover the creative process behind some of the world’s leading design studios, aligning with the theme of this year's conference: Fail Forward.
Behind the Curtains: Scenes of Craft showcases nine internationally renowned design studios, each specialized in diverse fields such as handcraft, circular design, and material research. Among them are: Ammar Kal, David Valner, Heilig Objects, Idaaf Architects, Masquespacio, Philipp Aduatz, Pieces of Jade, Ralf Gloudemans, and Siyu Liu.
The exhibition offers an opportunity to step behind the scenes and explore the trials, errors, inspirations, and innovations that have shaped their groundbreaking work. It invites visitors to not only witness the final products but also understand the trials and triumphs that lead to them—celebrating the full journey from concept to creation. The space is designed to resemble a theatre, with curtains dividing distinct "scenes" created by each studio, guiding visitors through the unpredictable journey of design.
Visitors will not only observe but actively participate in the creative process. At the heart of the exhibition lies an interactive workshop area, where they can engage with the designers’ craft by sketching, molding, and experimenting with materials. Visitors can experience the complexities of the design process while encouraging them to spark inspiration on their own creative paths — reminding us all that the best stories begin with experimentation, and sometimes, failure.
Behind the Curtains will be a highlight of the Tanween 2024 exhibition, aligning seamlessly with this year's theme, Fail Forward embraces failure as a stepping stone to success.
