The vessels of this series are breaking with the layered aesthetic of a 3d-printed surface while showing a new possibility of shapes in the area of clayprinting.
The use of support structure within this technique is not possible without destroying the surface by removing the support. Therefore the variety of shapes is limited due to the fact that some slants can not be printed without collapsing. The digital tool developed for this project is examining the shapes for weak spots and adding more structure where it is needed. In this way non-printable objects are transformed into printable ones by using a certain surface structure. The evolved ornament has a distinctive aesthetic value yet makes visible what would otherwise have remained hidden in the form using digital tools, material and design in interplay.
