Join us for a talk about colorful designs that convey narratives beyond their aesthetic appeal. The creations of studio mo man tai and Studio Boot often carry profound messages, ranging from climate change to sustainability. There's more depth to their work than meets the eye at first glance.

Through her work, A Naked Truth, designer Petra Janssen, Studio Boot, offers insights into her practice. Her rug offers a soft landing to a clear message: cherish the earth and live as you love. She is also initiator of the social label foundation in 2014 where designing labor is the focus, making design more meaningful and involving people who fall out of society. For which she made her latest work Hart that is on show at Isola Design Gallery, a versatile colorful woven cloth full of stories about love, fear and joy. Studio Boot

The captivating and seemingly cheerful designs by designers Ulrike Jurklies and Paul Bas of studio mo man tai address pressing issues such as global warming. With their project Re-campaign, to be launched at Isola, they tell a new story re-using supersize advertising canvasses. Through the use of several techniques and layering a text is subtly (re-)presented and the studio draws attention to new themes that deserve a "campaign". www.momantaidesign.com Mo Man Tai Design
